National Choral School offers an intensive two weeks of rehearsals, performances and workshops with the leading figures in Australian choral music. For the third year running, NCS will be based at Macquarie University, with participants in residence at Dunmore Lang and Robert Menzies Colleges from January 6 to 19. Following participation in NCS, choristers may be eligible to take part in Gondwana activities throughout the year.
National Choral School 2014 will feature four excellent choirs with artistic leadership from Australia's leading choral music educators.
Gondwana Chorale is our national choir for young men and women aged 17-25. Steadily building a reputation as one of Australia's finest young choirs, Chorale has performed widely in Australia and most recently toured Europe in January 2013. In 2014, the choir will again be conducted by Co-Artistic Director of Voices of Birralee, Paul Holley and Head of the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Carl Crossin OAM.
Gondwana Voices is Australia's internationally renowned children's choir for treble singers aged 10-16. Voices performs with Australia's leading music ensembles such as the Australian World Orchestra, tours internationally, performs at national events and records for ABC Classics. In 2014, Gondwana Voices will be conducted by Gondwana Choirs' Artistic Director, Lyn Williams OAM and Principal Guest Conductor, Mark O'Leary, Artistic Director of the Young Voices of Melbourne.
Gondwana Singers is an SATB choir for singers aged 14-16, including boys with newly changed or changing voices. Singers has quickly established itself as an exciting addition to NCS and in 2013 travelled to Tasmania for the Festival of Voices. In 2014, Singers will be conducted by Rowan Johnston from Westlake Girls High School in Auckland, and Chris Burcin, gifted choral educator and Co Conductor of the Cairns Gondwana Indigenous Children's Choir.
Junior Gondwana is for young people aged 10-13 who love singing and show strong musical potential. This choir serves as the start of a lifelong musical journey for many young singers. In 2014 it will be conducted by respected choral music educator, Liz Vierboom and renowned Australian composer, Paul Jarman.

** Cost includes accommodation & meals on campus, excursions, ground transfers, t-shirt, music & tuition. Please note that return transport from participants' home to Sydney airport at the beginning and end of the season and travel insurance are not included.
** Conducting Academy participants attending as part of UQ MUSC6859 or the UQ Graduate Certificate in Music will be subject to a separate fee structure.
** The participation fee for Junior Gondwana is $1,300.

Gondwana Composer School aims to develop the next generation of choral composers. Established in 2011, it is open to young people aged between 15 and 25, and in 2014 will be expanded to run for the full two weeks. In the first week, Paul Stanhope will lead the program focused on composing for the choral sound world. In the second week, Christopher Gordon will run a workshop exploring composition for film and television.
Gondwana Conducting Academy offers choral conductors of all ages the means to develop new skills and enhance existing training under the expert leadership of Graeme Morton AM. The program is offered to people aged 18-80 years as a professional development opportunity or as a course contributing to a Graduate Certificate or a Master of Music degree at the University of Queensland.

The Arts Administration Intern Program is an opportunity for current university students or recent graduates to attend lectures and workshops with industry leaders plus gain hands-on experience with Gondwana Staff in the day-to-day operation of Australia's biggest music camp.
